UK Llamas - Brit Valley Trek
UK Llamas - Brit Valley Trek
This is a unique offer appealing to both young families and those who want to discover the beautiful scenery of Dorset from a very different perspective. We have teamed up with Britain’s leading UK Llama Centre near Beaminster to produce an unforgettable experience.
Walking with llamas through the county’s stunning, gentle valleys or high up along the spectacular coastline is simply an experience that will stay you forever. Llamas simply add an entire new dimension to walking. They are incredibly sensitive creatures capable of sensing wildlife that most of us would simply miss. Their eyes and ears are at the same height as ours which means when they sense something…..so can you.
But it’s their personalities that will win you over. Each is different and has an uncanny way of connecting with you. Even the most sceptical are won over. Llamas are undoubtedly one of nature’s most gentle creatures – inquisitive, intuitive and with a sense of humour. They go through life at their own pace and absolutely never harm us. On a practical level, llamas remove some of the tedium of walking. How many times do you wish you hadn’t brought so much ‘stuff’ on a walk when all you want to do is take in everything around you? Llamas literally carry excessive baggage and literally lighten the load. For families who have done the regular children’s entertainment, a two-day visit to the Llama Centre while staying at the BridgeHouse ensures that everyone can enjoy something completely different.
While other children will talk about their 20th visit to a theme park, yours can talk about a once in a lifetime experience. Adults can also rest in the knowledge that after a day’s trekking a totally memorable night’s stay awaits them in a luxury bedroom at the hotel along with sumptuous, West Dorset food served in either our fine dining restaurant or al fresco in the hotel’s brand new, family friendly brasserie. So, come and join us on an unforgettable adventure you will treasure forever. Prices:

Christmas 2010
CHRISTMAS 2010 at the BridgeHouse Beaminster (Minimum 3 nights)
Selected as one of the Sunday Telegraph’s top 50 cosiest hotels in Britain, BridgeHouse is simply the perfect Christmas venue to relax and unwind. Log fires, comfy sofas and a wonderfully laid back atmosphere help to make Christmas a friendly house party for 30 guests. Head Chef, Steve Pielesz comes into his own with the very best of traditional local food. And with the fabulous Dorset countryside and Jurassic coast on the hotel’s doorstep, there’s every reason to ensure friends, family and children enjoy a truly memorable Christmas.
CHRISTMAS EVE 24th December
Arrive anytime after 2pm, settle in to your room and gently ease your way into the start of the festivities with a traditional Dorset Cream tea with homemade scones & jam. There’s a crib service in the town’s stunning St Mary’s Church at 4pm. Following its success last year, we are offering an informal wine tasting at 5.30pm which brings everyone together and gets the house party going. Six excellent reds and six stunning whites from Bordeaux to Mexico will be on offer for you to try.
Early evening at around 7pm join us in the bar for Kir Royale and canapés while listening to local carol singers sing their hearts out to get everyone in the festive mood. A memorable five course candle-lit dinner awaits in the Georgian panelled dining room. Midnight mass is a short stroll in to the town at the Grade 1 listed, 15th Century Church. CHRISTMAS DAY 25th December
The day begins with the heartiest of Dorset breakfasts: full English or smoked salmon and scrambled eggs all accompanied by homemade everything from the muesli to the bread jam & marmalade. There’s a Christmas Day Eucharist service at 11am at St Mary’s or relax with a choice of specialty coffees in front of the fire. Afterwards, join us for a glass of champagne in the 13th Century Medieval Bar & Lounge followed by the main event - a Traditional Five Course Christmas lunch.
The entire kitchen team pull out all the stops with the very finest Dorset produce cooked to perfection. Local, free range turkeys, fish from Lyme Bay & local home grown vegetables followed by local cheeses with homemade chutneys. Finish with coffee & truffles in the lounge. We deliberately plan very little in the wake of lunch to give everyone a chance to laze, play games in the lounge or even take a light snooze. The Queen’s speech is at 3pm. Come evening (7.30-8pm), mulled wine is served with a delicious cold buffet. BOXING DAY 26th December
Following the previous day’s festivities, we break you gently in to Boxing Day with a hearty brunch – after 9am. Then there’s time to simply stretch the legs or explore our wonderful part of West Dorset. The Brit Valley walk takes you from the hotel, across rolling hills and along the River Brit passing the original River Cottage on your way.
Alternatively, take a short drive to Seatown near Charmouth and scale the cliff walks if you fancy a real calf stretcher. The views from Golden Cap – England’s tallest coastal cliff are extraordinary. Maybe a swift pint at Seatown’s Anchor pub is in order before returning to the hotel where champagne cocktails are served before a five course candle-lit dinner.
SUNDAY 27th December
For those heading home, it’s another of our famous breakfasts followed by fond farewells. But what could be better than to extend your stay and not have to stay goodbye. Talk to our friendly staff about availability and special rates for an extended stay.
