Bridge House is a 700 year old Dorset country residence full of character - the product of generations of history passing through its doors. Originally a home for a dozen priests, the hotel now has its own unique, boutique style, sympathetic to its heritage as well as contemporary comfort.
Bridge House has 13 bedrooms, each decorated in its own original style and all en-suite with modern bathrooms. All rooms have the finest Italian Frette linen, waffle guest robes, Molton Brown toiletries, flat screen TVs, free wi-fi, digital telephones, tea and coffee making facilities.
Once the building’s stables, the Coach House was converted in 1995 and is a pretty, detached building at the rear of hotel offering country style accommodation.
The hotel’s public rooms reflect the building’s fascinating history from the medieval lounge to the Georgian panelled dining room. There is also a beautiful dog friendly walled garden and heated outside terrace. The bar serves drinks throughout the day and evening, with an extensive wine and spirits list, and a cocktail bar on weekend evenings.
Bridge House is flanked by the River Brit and is at the heart of Beaminster - one of the most perfectly situated of all Dorset towns. Deep in Thomas Hardy’s Wessex, the hotel is also on the doorstep of a World Heritage Site - The Jurassic Coast, with its 95 miles of unspoilt coast, crammed with 185 million years of fossil history. The nearby bustling market town of Bridport boasts many individual shops and a vintage quarter for antiques and collectables. Just six miles away is the quirky fishing harbour at West Bay, made popular following the ITV series ‘Broadchurch’.
Our wine supplier is renowned London-based merchant Corney & Barrow, who have helped create an extensive and evolving wine list at Bridge House. However, if there is a particular wine or vintage you would like to drink during your stay, please contact our restaurant manager Alex Thomas who will be happy to assist: email@example.com
Our resident mixologist Lloyd Brown is available for private cocktail masterclasses. For an additional £25 per person you will be able to sample 4 cocktails created from locally produced Dorset spirits and mixers. A minimum of 6 people per booking is required for private masterclasses
